چکیده

Abstract Background Adenocarcinoma of the gastro-oesophageal junction (GOJ) remains a significant clinical problem that is increasing in incidence and associated with poor prognosis. The aim this study to determine effects resection margins on survival recurrence. Methods A retrospective was conducted at our hospital from March 2001 till December 2022. All patients had oesophagectomy for junctional adenocarcinoma were included study. Demography, staging, margins, type neo-adjuvant chemotherapy data collected. Results Over study, 174 Gastro-oesophageal adenocarcinoma. 42 circumferential positive 132 negative margins. median 18 months 31 P value <0.001 There no longitudinal enough calculate any statical analysis recurrence 13.4 26.8 0.003 Conclusions presence margin tumour will significantly affect rate rate.

Circumferential resection margin involvement: an independent predictor of survival following surgery for oesophageal cancer.

BACKGROUND For rectal carcinoma, the presence of tumour within 1 mm of the circumferential margin is an important independent prognostic factor for both local recurrence and survival. Similar prospective data have not been reported for oesophageal carcinoma and we wished to ascertain the prognostic importance of this variable following potentially curative resection for oesophageal carcinoma. ...

Does gastro-oesophageal reflux following PEG placement in stroke patients predict a poorer outcome?

SIR—We read with interest the article by Clayton et al. on tracheal pH monitoring and aspiration in acute stroke [1] and agree with their suggestion that research into this area is much needed. We have been concerned about the risk of aspiration in patients with dysphagic stroke who are fed by percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy (PEG) tube. The median survival of PEG-fed stroke patients is 10 m...

Prediction of survival in patients with oesophageal or junctional cancer receiving neoadjuvant chemoradiotherapy and surgery.

BACKGROUND The value of conventional prognostic factors is unclear in the era of multimodal treatment for oesophageal cancer. This study aimed to quantify the impact of neoadjuvant chemoradiotherapy (nCRT) and surgery on well established prognostic factors, and to develop and validate a prognostic model. METHODS Patients treated with nCRT plus surgery were included. Multivariable Cox modellin...

Gastric volvulus and associated gastro-oesophageal reflux.

Between 1984 and 1994, 10 neurologically normal children between 2 and 24 months were diagnosed as having gastric volvulus with associated gastro-oesophageal reflux (GOR). The common features at presentation were episodic colicky abdominal pain, non-bilious vomiting, upper abdominal distension, haematemesis, and failure to thrive. Anterior gastropexy and conservative management of GOR was curat...
